Thank you for your interest in our program. Deciding to return to school as an adult can be one of the most intimidating choices one can make. It is our mission to make this choice as rewarding, meaningful and enjoyable as possible.
We will take the time to listen to your goals and assess your unique abilities before mapping out a plan that fits into your life. Whether you come to us to learn new computer skills, English as a Second Language or plan to take other essential workplace or educational training, our teachers strive to go the extra mile to make learning relevant and engaging for you. Much of our curriculum is available on a “constant enrollment” basis and you are able to work at your own pace. Other courses are offered in two-week blocks and are repeated several times throughout the year. Night school is also available to make learning more accessible to people who have other commitments during regular daytime hours. Our classes are very small and rarely contain more than a dozen students, so you can count on getting individual attention when you need it.
Our common spaces offer comfortable furniture, free coffee and a relaxed atmosphere, students find it easier to interact, support each other and form friendships than they might in larger institutions. We are also located near bus routes, restaurants, grocery stores, shops and services.

Northland Craft Academy Featured in Sault Today
A new pre-employment program created through a partnership between the Algoma District School Board and Ontario Works, uses the “business of crafting” to help provide adult students the support they need to get back into the workforce. Held at Northland Adult Learning Centre, the program is becoming popular.

Fall Colours Outing
On a beautiful sunny and warm day, on September 20th, 2019, we went for a hike on Goulais Avenue. It was a day of discovering bright colours of the leaves, various kinds of mushrooms and animal marks on the trees. The day ended with stories around a camp fire accompanied with hot-dogs cooked on the fire and hot apple cider.

Words from our Students
We get to meet new people and we have awesome cooking class on Mondays and Fridays. We do go on field trips with the teachers. We do awesome stuff at Northland Adult Learning Center. You do get to do some credit work upstairs.

Northland Adult Learning Center is an amazing school! I first started in 2011 and was off and on until 2017 when I came and did what I love most: learning. The teachers make it lots of fun. We get to enjoy amazing field trips, cooking classes, computers and many other courses. Learning here is fun and a wonderful thing.
